Anyone compare the two as far as resistance and such? Which are better? I have two packs with Traxxas high current connectors for my Rustler VXL that I was going to run in a boat as well and didn't know if I should swap the packs to deans, or just make up a y harness with traxxas plugs.

Cool, thanks. I just figured if one was better than the other, I'd use that to prevent a meltdown. I'll just stick with my deans since that's what everything else I have is set up with anyway.

Deans plugs are recomended for 60 amps or less. If you are useing these cells for boats with a 8or 9 xl for example I would recomend 5.5..Twin cat 9xl,... 29 titan 8xl,....37 in mono kb48 8xl.... 42 in twin elc cat project... 42 in gasser cat 260 modded zenoh''' planes and trucks....Comment

if you are talking about the Deans Ultras they can take a lot more than 60 amps ,they can handle what ever you can put through a 12 awg wireComment

Do you know the amp rating on the Traxxas plugs? I just cut them off and switched them to the Deans, so I hope they aren't much better lol.
Edit- a quick google showed that people are running the deans at more than 100amps without failure and that "Deans" does not provide an actual amp reading- they basically say "if a 12 gauge wire will work, so will the connector". This site shows them rated at 75- http://www.elektromodellflug.de/hoch...romstecker.htmLast edited by kwiktsi; 09-15-2008, 01:00 AM.My favorite search engine http://google.comComment

Fwiw I Called Traxxas A While Back Because I Was Also Curious. The Salesman Put Me On Hold Because He Didn't Know
After He Came Back He Replied With 100 Amps. This Came Straight From The Factory. I Will Say That Since I Made The Switch To Bullets The Wires Dont Get Near As Hot. When I Was Running Traxxas Plugs ( On Venom Nimh ) The Positive Lead On One Of The Packs Actually Melted The Solder. I Know Venom Packs Really Can't Hold Up To High Current Apps. I Repaired The Solder Joint And Installed Bullet Connectors And Haven't Had Problems Since. Now All I Use On My Lipo's Are Bullets.* BBY Lift Master RIgger * Insane Gen 2 Cat * Aeromarine Avenger Pro Twin * Delta Force Cyber Storm * Delta Force 41" Mono * H&M Viper II * H&M Intruder * OSE Raider Hydro * Whiplash 20 * Brushless Mini Rio *Comment

The problem with running deans at 100 amps is the connection. They build heat and the wires will fall off.
I would also suggest to the kwiktsi, to use a connector you will use for 100% of all your rc vehicles. Switching and adapters for chargers is a real pain in the neck. I'm slowly converting all my deans stuff for 5.5mm connectors. Even in small boats.Steven Vaccaro

I agree bullets are the best especially for some high amp draw setups, but one needs to be very careful not to short them out.
My TRX connectors have worked great so far in my modified Emaxx using high amp draw Neu 1515 1.5d 2600kv, Castle Creations MMM esc, and 4s lipo power... truck can easily go 50mph. I also use them in my boats because my charger and Traxxas Emaxx truck is already setup to use them.Comment
