I am setting up a Q class mono for 6 cells. I have lots of 2 cell packs for P-lim and 4 cell packs for P. So, at least for the time being, I would like to put a 2S and 4S in series in the new boat. All packs are Turnigy 5000mah 60C rated with 5.5 bullets, less than a year old.

Which side should I put the heavier pack on? I am thinking port, to counteract torque.

Or, is this a terrible idea altogether?

If you are running 1P placing the heavier 4 cell pack on the left will help counteract torque roll but may fight the boat turning right due to the heavier cells wanting to lean back to the outside. Test both set-ups and see which one works better.

Today I was getting ready to install battery trays, expecting them to be somewhere along side the motor. It turns out that the CG was right-on with the packs ahead of the motor, on the tray that came with the boat. That saved time. So I am just stacking the 2S and 4S packs.
