    Fly over problems

    Hi Guys,
I'm fairly new to FE Boating. I scratch built a 1/12th scale Pay N Pack. The drive train make up is 35x37 mm 2400kv Outrunner with 642 prop. My problem is that when I get around 30 - 35 mph the boat wants to blow over. I run the heaviest 4000 mAh 3s battery I have as far forward as possible and even added 2 oz. of weight. Can any one please give me a push in the right direction?

need more info. How deep is your strut and any angle to it?

The center of the prop shaft to bottom of the boat is 22/32" and the strut angle is close to 4 deg. Thanks, Jim

The first thing that come to my mind, is the strut angle. I think it is too much angled. Try to lower it around 2° positive, and test. On my Pursuit the stigner is at 15/32". Maybe your strut is a bit too high. Maybe somebody have better solutions.

        I hope it helps!

        Regards, André.

What angle is turn fin in relation to sponson? Bottom of fin should be about the same. Also a good starting point on strut is bottom of strut should've just as deep as sponson. I would start with no strut angle. If still blows over try some other props maybe you'll find a prop that had more lift. That will get bow down.

Two issues, CG and aoa. The CG should be as close to the sponson transoms as possible, no more than 1.5" behind and that is really too much.

The hull's angle of attack is too high. Lower the strut so the bottom is the same depth as the sponson transoms. Start with the strut flat - you are using a dead-flat table to adjust things on, right? If the boat still wants to kite, lower it another 1/16".

Pics would help us help you, but you can also try an air dam three inches aft of the bow in the tunnel. Tape a large diameter drinking straw (from Mickey D's) across the tunnel to block and disturb the air entering the tunnel. An easy cheap mod which can really help.
