Finding a lost boat with a Fish Finder.

We lost a boat at our Can-Am a couple weeks ago and had a heck of a time finding it even though we knew right where it went down in about 18'.

Vis on the bottom was basically zero according to the divers. Searched a couple hours two separate days and nadda. Then NLMBC club member Jay Moffatt said he heard a fish finder works, since the bottom was flat and featureless I thought it might be worth a shot.

Picked up an all-in-one Hummingbird 120 "fishin buddy" http://www.humminbird.com/Products/120-Fishin-Buddy/ and with a little searching it pointed us right to it.

Yup. Took three trips to the site, quite a bit of effort and of course some $$$. The park would only allow Commercially Certified divers in the water.

I pulled all the equipment and cleaned it up in fresh water then hosed it all down with alcohol, even opened up the rx and rudder servo. Pretty sure it's all OK, the boat though, not so much.

            A quick question Terry.
Was it already stationary when it went down or was it under power when she went down? How close was it found to where in went down?
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

Was dead in the water and went down fast. Was exactly where it went down, we shudda marked the spot right away with a sub buoy or something.

Does that hummingbird sonar work above the water? Or how do you use it? You go out in a boat to locate it?
