Hi on the flex to strut , how much space between shaft dog and strut ?

The same gap as the flex is thick is a fairly well used rule of thumb, and I think errs on the safe side.

Put a thick rag over the end of shaft and push it forward with some force from the palm of hand.

Then almost 1/4" past what you can push forward. Solid mounted motors can usually get away with less than rubber mounted engines.

You do not want it to make one iota of contact with strut or the bushing if it is the loose slip in type of sleeve bushing.
