Also if you plug in the numbers in the speed calc the speed comes out to mid 30's on 4S.

Well, yours does look great. Which is one of the reasons that I got the Princess. At the pond, mine looks the same, and all the guys are impressed. But the Garmin Forerunner 201 GPS only shows 25 MPH, and that is on a 2000kv motor.

I still can't figure out the stock prop. HK web site says it's a cl-08B, HK-5B12x48, 12x48 prop. So, what the heck is the pitch ratio? If I use 1.2 pitch ratio in the speed calculator, the result is 31 MPH, like you say. The Kintec Racing web site prop listing shows it as 1.4, then the calculator predicts 46 MPH, not realistic. Have you used a GPS?

For comparison, P-Limited deep V monos typically run in the mid 30's on 4S batts, 2000kv motors, M445 props, and smaller hulls.

The diameter of the prop is 48mm. I have no idea about the pitch but 1.2 seems reasonable based on the part number and performance. It definitely doesn't do 46mph on the stock setup. I thought I had gps'd 33.8mph but I could be confusing it with another boat. The memory isn't what it once was. Next time I have it out I'll throw the gps in and double check. I'm not a racer so I don't know the limitations of a P-Limited V boat but 30's seem slow. My now sold Pursuit with the same setup you mentioned ran 51.2 GPS verified.

I only race with the guys in the local club. We are pretty evenly matched, but I don't think any of us would be competitive with the big boys. My P class Pursuit tops out at about 46, and is competitive. However, we don't burn up our rigs much. :)

We've done some informal racing at out pond with bone stock Lucas Oils. There are not very fast but fun nonetheless because of the competition. 46 on the Pursuit is pretty decent though.

Looks like i'm going to attempt to change out some parts in hopes to get the boat running smooth/fast. Digging through different threads and youtube videos, I think I will try:

            - AquaCraft SV27 (AQUB7881) Strut (not sure if the bolt pattern is the same, looks like it's close based on pics)
            - OSE Upgrade Bushing for AquaCraft Struts
            - 0.150" Flex Shaft w/ 3/16" Shaft
            - Octura x640 Prop

Will start with 3S, and if all is good might try 6S as some reported no issues with the mentioned setup on stock motor. On 6s, speed was measured at 44 mph.

Any thoughts/suggestion on this setup? I wonder if trim tabs would help with torque roll?

If I were you I will use .187 cable instead of .150 cable, for this size hull and should you want to run on 6s one day, the beefier cable will be an asset.
Too many boats, not enough time...

I mounted a set of trim tabs that I had laying around from a Traxxas Spartan, they did help a little bit. If I were you, I would try a set of the OSE adjustable tabs.
I used a SeaKing 180 ESC and set the timing at 7 degrees, based on info I received from this forum.

Today I made some real progress, and have some GPS data to share. First, lets talk about the driveline. In order to experiment with bigger props, I replaced the two-piece shaft with a one piece 3/16 shaft with .150 flex cable. I had to punch out the 4mm bushings and press in a 3/16 bushing. Ideally it would use 2, but I was only successful with one.

                  DSC05807.jpg

Earlier, I had replaced the stock motor with a new Dynamite 2000kv 4 pole motor. Although that pushed the speeds into the mid 20's, it ran very hot. (true kv seems like 2200, but that's another story). Today's runs are on an SSS 2075kv motor, taken from a new HK TFL Ariane 2 (putting a Q class motor in that).

                  With Proboat 4019 prop 1.6 ratio x 1.6" dia, got 30.7 MPH
                  With Prather B220 prop 1.5 ratio x 1.7" dia, got 31.7 MPH

                  Hopefully this video will work.

Looking good! What battery were you running? How was acceleration out of the hole?

I just picked up my SV27 strut, .150" -3/16" flex shaft, and the Octura x640 Prop today. Unfortunately the store was out of stock of the bushing I need for the new strut so I'm going to have to wait to test it. From what I can tell, the SV27 strut should mount without any modifications, but until I take the old one off to try I could be wrong.

I am running a Turnigy 4s 4000mah 60C battery. Forgot to mention that I mount it across the stern just ahead of the radio tray. Some cavitation on start-up. Very little left turn capability during cavitation. Also, the boat likes to spin-out in the turns. I will be looking for a deeper rudder blade on a longer bracket to move it aft a little.

Forgot to mention that I got a static current draw of 31.5 Amps, using an in-line GT Power Meter. I don't know how that translates into running current draw, and I don't leave it on for the run. However, it did suck down both packs today. Motor end bell was only about 115 deg F, but connectors were 135. I can live with that.

I just looked up the sv27 strut. It looks like a great replacement. I hope it fits without too much fuss. I had bought one of those brass bushings but it is too loose in the Princess stinger. Be aware that most Octura props need to be balanced. Keep us posted.

I tried the new strut and the bracket is an exact fit for the existing holes, but the shaft does not line up with the tube. So new holes would have to be drilled. If I have to drill new holes, I might rather use some with a larger mounting plate that would cover up the old holes. An adjustable stinger might be nice to dial in the trim better. Not sure if there is a better option.

Agree. I have one of these.

Larger than Princess part, different hole spacing, has 3/16 bushings in it. Also longer, so I would have to get another flex shaft.

I didn't change the SV27 strut and flex cable . I only use Loctite 603 glue the prop shaft to the flex cable.
I run 4s and place some weight on the right hand side . then run very smooth and quite . But remember everytime
Before run add the grease in the prop shaft to the flex cable. You may see offshore tip how to glue the prop shaft to the flex cable. Not too much work and save the money .

More progress to report. Not faster, but more control. I eliminated the spinning out by installing a longer rudder. I got this from a friend's spare parts box, but I am pretty sure that this OSE part is the same. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...prod=ose-80052 It's 3/4 inch longer.
