    Arneson drive gap question

Do I need to have a gap with below Arneson drives between the drive dog and the teflon washer & bearing at the end of the drive ?
Common sense would say 'yes' as I'm using flex cables which will shorten and might rob power or worse pull the cables from the couplers ..

What got me in doubt is several threads debating the use of thrust bearings either on the motor or the drive shaft and to be honest all the HPR builds I've seen pictures of the props - dont have any gap there

Thanks for any comments on this ..

    Hi
you are not right i think i know more HPR than you all using flex have a gap only the ones with barbwire or in 0.250 MHZ flex with square end for a coupling on the Motorside.
    take care

      Thanks for confirming ..
So would a 1,5 mm gap do ?
Its a 0.187 flex cable about 17cm long then probably another 4cm or so goes into the prop shaft.

      Thanks,
