I need help with my first electric build so I can use all input because I know nothing about electrics, I bought a Aquastar motor and speed controller from a guy in my club. It seems to be a big motor with a 8mm shaft the kv are 730/1280 depending on your set up, and the speed controller is 180A. My problem is there is no paperwork or wires with the motor so here is where I need all the help

batteries HOW MANY CELLS AND WHAT TYPE AND ETC
    WIRES SIZE AND TYPE
INFO of any and all help would be apprieciated

So you are limited to 6S with your ESC, the motor will have to be connected in the 1280 configuration to get the RPMs you will need. How big is the rigger?

A 50" rigger for a very first Fe boat will be a big challenge.....I can say this as I only run riggers.Yes your motor will have to be configured to 1280 on 10-12S to be consistent and be prepared to see Amps going to the roof so a T180 isn't enough. What kind of rigger...scratch? For batts you can't go wrong with Revolectrics, esc I would suggest a SF 240 or even a SF 300,wires in this case are 8AWG,a capbank is recommended to be on the safe side, collet MUST be from MBP(you can get it here at OSE) and 1/4" flexshaft just to get started.

So you typically run 50,000+ rpm in your riggers? that is screaming! Just the sound from that has got to be a hoot

So you might want to clarify your previous statement as to running 1280kv on 10-12S.

Revolectric is what I'm using now with great results with 6mm connectors.Ok if you want to run 6S you will be ok but my rigger equipped with similar motor a Proteus is running flawlessly on 10S its 6 laps turning a 55mm propellor....esc is a SF 300 A....it all depends on the efficience of your hull.Gill
