Sorry for sure that it happened but when you went over to talk with him shouldn't you have brought up the frequency then?

Hinesight... probably. But considering he was just tweaking and i mentioned him not running while we were i didnt think it would be an issue. Also we were in the water first so IMO he should have check if he wanted to run considering we were in the water first....

Just goes to show you cant assume anything..

Certainly not as catastrophic as your loss, I have had others switch on without looking or asking at a local pond.
I nearly lost my 700 powered mono to a wind theif who just put his sailboat in and didn't think to come over and see me.
I went over to see him and he was well apologetic.
I don't use that pond anymore though for other reasons.

I know 2.4 is supposed to fix this but that is not the point. While some of us still use FM or even AM it is important that we all can share a pond.

I agree that there are idiots all over the world and we just have some bad days.......at the pond too.
        See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

While it's not recommended (especially for safety reasons), you could have easily wasted his boat too.

Just wait for him to start running, turn your radio on and do your worst. Like I said though, it's really too dangerous to do that with anyone standing nearby.

When I go to the pond, if the guys from MMM are there, I always #1 ask them if I can use the pond, and #2 ask them what channels they are running.

I even ask the sailboat guys. Even though they are running a bit slower, a runaway sucks no matter what speed you're running.

I also bought one of those frequency checkers from Tower, and check for anyone using anything on any FM channel before I start. It may be a bit paranoid, but better safe than sorry.

The checker would not have helped in your case though.

              That sucks...
