    UK Nationals

Hi folks, I thought some of you may want to see what we are getting up to in the UK. We just had our annual FE nationals and I have some pictures and video from it.
As a basic intro we run mainly to Naviga rules with races of 6 minutes in duration. Monos are allowed to have steps. Minis have a 2s or 3s battery weighing no more than 110g/3.88oz, ECO/Mono1/Hydro1 a 2s or 3s < 280g/9.87oz and Mono2/Hydro2/Cat a 4s-6s < 560g/19.75oz battery, which gives us an average of roughly 200w, 500w and 1kw with current technology.

Here is a link to my album of photos from this year's nationals.
    And a few sample pictures.

For next year we are going to try a sprint race like you have in North America, due to our small lakes and the extra speed it is going to be Mini Hydro Sprint, Here is one of my first test runs.

It is a JAE Minisprint with the tips of the sponsons cut off, the motor is a Mega Motors 16/15/2 which is 28x36.4mm 4600kv, they have increased in price a LOT since I got mine, the HET EDF 2W is a cheap American knockoff if that fits within your morals.

Hi Paul. This is great stuff! Thanks for posting the vids!! I see a line with flags stretching across the starting line. Are you guys running a transponder system???

No Martin, one of my 3s <110g 1500-1700mAh 20C race packs.

They have been testing a transponder system at that lake, and the two buoys on the end of the rope aren't actually buoys but posts down to the lake bed for the transponder, but as yet it was not deemed reliable enough for the nationals, hopefully next year. The line of flags is just to have an unarguable start/finish line, and you wouldn't believe how many otherwise decent photos I had to chuck away because it had that flag rope going through the boat.
