    Matching Motor to correct ESC???

How do you know that you've chosen the correct BL Motor & Esc (or vice versa)????

    E.g. The most common upgraded for a SV27 is either a 7-8-9xl and matched with a CC120a - Why? - I mean why not 180 -240 or when HV series OR 11-12-13xl????

That's what I'd like to know? when are these other components for what set ups??

I currently have a SV set with Ammo 2300 + Xpower 100a + x642 or 4s and it's great (gps 47mph) not the fastest boat around - but hey it's better than it was.

But now looking for a Hull and the right components that will push it into the 60mph range???

I will probably never require a 6s set up so my questions are based on 4s only but 6s is an option -

SV's are not designed for 60 Mph.....Dont bother as you will NOT be able to control it.

In answer to your other questions, trial and error by many people as well as calculating current draws etc..............

The smartass in me says you could save alot of money and build a sling shot device to make it go 60mph. Anyway there is a section for helping select motor, esc. hull and prop posted here now on the forum. Reddy and the boys did a very nice job on it.

Or you could put it in a car and drive down the highway!

1st choose a hull and size then go from there...Once you have the hull figured, then do the research on that hull useing the "search" above.

Once you have a basic idea what it takes then you can get more specific. There is a new thread page here and a few ppl have contributed alot of info that is a great help...

And keep in mind that many ppl have tried many different set ups and made them work quite well. There are many elec gurus here to keep you in check if you ask...

wasnt cuttin on you sir, just a bit of comedy on this fine Sun. eve. Im also not from Canada... sometimes I wish I was though. take care and good luck with the new dition to your fleet.

Edit: I feel getting a boat to 60mph will require a 6S setup. 4S is pretty hard unless you use a ton of amperage and a small hull like a rigger.

                  harmless fun all good :)

can i put this towards you guys - I can seem to get my hands on a jollycat - but I do have a bJ 26 which i would like to convert to BL - with some remodeling (like RCPrince on here) i could extend the stern/transom and thurn into a BLackjack 30-32" - now looking at Reddywatts spreadsheet - would need a motor between 1800-1100kv + HV esc cc120/ 180/ 240Hv? + 8cell Lipo 6s - is that right

Iwas gonna mention that about 6s... Unless you go with a rigger or a hydro getting 60 out of a 4s set is a challenge.... Most of your 60 plus hulls are running 6s to start many up to 10 s... Im not saying it hasnt been or cant be done by any means... Just makeing that statement will will draw fire. Is it possible ya sure with the right hull and set up...

Yes, this will get you were you want to be. I would go with jollycat instead of retro'ing your blackjack. Why? cause if you ever wanna run a tight course and still be pretty quick and have handling you will still have the blackjack. You would be safe to go with the hydra 240HV controller along with 8S LiPo. Kv/ are accordingly. Meaning I dont have a calculator infront of me but you wanna stick to the 30K kv rating. I say that about the blackjack cause I have a twin cat hull that is hitting some pretty high numbers and is a "showstopper" but the SV is fun to go back to and spin some laps.

My bj26 is nitro - and since I upgraded my SV27 it's no fun - thats why I'm considering remodeling (wouldn't be to much to do looking at RCprince results)

Though I wish I could get me a Jolly....I think I read someone had runs a 2300 ammo + xpower 100a on 4s per motor on a twin set up may give that a try but a single set up on 6s...yes???

                        thanks again

The Hydra 120 with a 7-8-9XL is used because it is a good balance with cost and performance.

i also have a blackjack. i brought it for 70 bucks just to see how fast i can get it. i removed the steerable out drive and made my own strut and rudder threw in a cheap 2800kv motor and 4 cells just to see if it was worth makeing better. it is now in the process of being re painted and i will be running a ammo 2300 on 4s with 6s for saw type runs and will put on a new strut, rudder. here is the test video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WtFjmN0n1k
