That boat runs great with a 700 motor and 12 cells, it is very light weight. Use the flex cable drive, you can keep the rudder where it is for simplicity. Rigged correctly with an x445 prop it will run in the 30s.

Another thought is a SV27 motor/ESC on 12 cells. A little more $$ but higher speed and performance. Try an x442 to start.

I have a graupner systems from 1988 that I built then but never put it in the water until last weekend.
It rean fast until the gears came off from not tightenening them properly.
I'm working on correcting that and can't wait to get it into the water again.
I built it with Graupner's 606 hydrospeed dual motor setup. I'm going to convert the servo/micro switch
full racing takeoff to an esp. Any idea how to attach pictures for you to see, I'm new here,
        Dan

          Hit "Reply"
Then click the "Go Advanced" button.
Scroll down a bit and click "Manage Attachments"

          Then click "Add Files"
          Then "Select Files"

          It's pretty easy from there.

I saw them.Cool,memories... In mine I hooked up the guys heads to the rudder servo so when the boat turned left they looked left.Same with right.
I also switched the noisy gears to a Hyperdrive belt system before it got a single Astroflight 25 and 18 cells.Wish we had GPS back then.

It sure ran good back then. The ride pads are fairly narrow and the tunnel deep. So what are you're plans for her?

Well, I have a lot of catching up to do.
I understand brushless motors and lipo batteries are being used today.
I purchased 2- 7.2v 6800mAh ni-mh chinese made batteries to replace the older super stock fdm 2000 battery packs,
my thought was to get longer run time with these but do you think I would need to water cool the Graupner 600s?
I also purchased a proboat waterproof esc to replace the flat out full speed servo operated micro switch that was set up for racing.
I plan to just have some relaxing fun lake running it with the grandchildren, my racing days are over.
I would appreciate any suggestions you can make for me,
                          thanks,
                          Dan

I had to make the conversion as well Dan.I was out of the hobby for quite a few years(since that Systems 7)

Started back with a Slash and OMG the power in brushless/lipo.I used to run a Tamiya Super Shot for racing and was lucky if I got 4 mins run time.I can go walking and bashing my Slash and the battery goes an hour. And it is killer fast.

Same goes for the boats, you just have to watch as the Brushless motors can pull some juice so pick your batteries well. 40c and up if you can.SkyLipo is a good start. This forum is good reading and will save you parts if you take the time to search for what you want.I think I read for 3 months before I posted anything.
