Things I've learned about the Genesis

I'm new to brushless FE boats but not to RC boating. Had many nitro boats over the years. Got a genesis a few months back with the stock 2075 kv motor. Here's what I've learned so far. Don't use a GT 2 b radio. Upgrade to a 3/16 drive. Offsetting the rudder to the starboard side makes boat much more stable. You don't need dual water pick ups. The stock 3674 2075 SSS motor is tough as nails. Beat it up with 6s for months. Put 6mil bullets on motor and Esc. Upgraded Esc to 220 swordfish. Use 10 or 8 guage wire everywhere. 63.5 mph with a x443 prop. Runs hot I admit but it has done it many times. Waiting for motor to give up and upgrade it. Will hit high 70's by end of summer. Love this brushless stuff.

I was using a gt2b and it glitching real bad causing very short range. I think it was too sensitive to interference from stuff in the boat.

It is the TFL Genesis that hobbyking sells. Yes the hatch must be taped. Rudder is offset to right looking at boat from rear just enough to clear the prop. I have a 4082 1500 kv also. With a 45 x 1.6 prop it goes 61 mph and runs nice and cool.

When people talk about a genesis is that a type of cat,or are they referring to this boat by name? can I try the 2150 motor on the 445 prop?once I figure out the motor I have to buy one because these have to go back in my cars ,it's 110* here thru August but then 9 months of great rc racing and duning

My wire drive is 4mm ,I think that's close to 3/16,?

It's a cat type hull Genesis is the name of the boat. The 2150 motor will be fast but I would try a smaller prop and check the temps of everything. The stock Genesis drive is 4mm but 3/16 is bigger and that's the one you need.

Can you tell me where to get one and maybe a part # and I'll order one ,I had the flex shaft on my Spartan break off and my prop sank ,don't want that again, also I read that octura aluminum props are not for brushless ,do you know why?

Ose parts section has Genesis upgrade parts on this website. I use their CNC aluminum props. They work great.

I'll just ask you because you've been around boats ,traxxas water proof servos are not water proof ,the Spartan will sink in 30 seconds even with the hatch tapped ,if it's upside down ,servo always goes bad,do I silicone the caps and maybe an O ring on the splines? On the HK boat do I need a water proof servo or are they sealed good enough ,?

When you tape the hatch down it's almost impossible to get any water in it.

I need to offset the rudder on mine. It runs a 4074 2000kv, 3/16 drive with an x445 prop, and cool on a 180A esc. Hauls ass on 5s, but likes to blow over on 6s. I've gone as far as I can go on battery position and prop pitch to stabilize. Hoping the offset wil keep it out of the air, and on the water, where it belongs...
