mean machine question, prop, motor setup.

I've had my mean machine up and running for quite some time (years) and it has always been fairly quick and stable. It has a t600 1400kv outrunner, fightercat 240 2-8s esc, and I've always run it on 5s 2p and a 445 prop. It cruises along very nicely at what would guess is 40s as it keeps up with some of my buddy's mg29s that all run about there.

I decided I wanted to push it a little bit since the motor can easily handle 6s as well as the esc. I propped down to a 442, and on 6s it would cavitation then jump on plane, motor was 110 esc was 90.

Swapped yo the same 445 I'd been running and threw it back out. Bug difference, ran fast, and stable like always. Motor was 148 esc 110. Changed motor timing to 20 deg from 15 and dropped to 120 degrees and 105 respectively. It's only running around 42mph according to gps. To me this doesn't sound right. Strut is level and about 1/8 up from sponsons, no hopping. Could my gps be off? Has always been accurate in my car.

Any tips? I do have a running vid. It's not the prettiest boat, I consider it a "basher"

What packs, C rating? When I ran a t600 in a heavy 30inch cat on 5s2p and a detounged x450 through a Turnigy 180 and it was doing about 50mph. Ran a bit hotter than yours but, timing was wrong, too low.

I ran it in oval racing, not long sport runs.

And I was only going out, making 3 or 4 passes, come back and check everything.

Problem zippy packs step up to 50 c+ don't know if that is a d or y did u try timing on 7.5? What is strut set at mm likes 1/8 above sponsons slightly negative prop angle. With m445 prop.

I'm running 45-55c packs, they are never warm when it comes back, they've worked great in higher discharge situations than this. Strut is as you stated. The outrunner ran hot with lower timing. I always thought they liked higher timing?

there is definitely something not right there, My mean machine is over 50mph on 4s and a aquacraft 1800 motor with a 445, your boat should be at or over 60mph with that setup.

Again, I started at 15, temps were high, went to 20 and temps came down and actually picked up 1 mph, or it was just a coincidence.

Looking at your video again and based on what I found so far on my SprintCat, (same lower hull as MM) check to be sure you are getting full throttle and I would try different battery packs as well. Made a huge difference for the SprintCat!

Raise the strut with the X445 at lease 1/4"-3/8" from bottom to center of shaft this will also raise the bow so you might have to move the batteries or strut angle the boat should be near 50 mph on 5's
