    Apparition Cat setup and discussion

    Hello.
First of all sorry for my english
Im a new member at the forum and i would like your help.
I have an Apparition with TP Power 3640 2100KV with Seaking 120A and i have change the caps with the Rubycon 35V 1000uf and i solder the cables from esc to the motor
I run it at 4S2p and the cable bridge is 10AWG and the batteries is Hard case 6000mah 60-120C
The timing is 3.75 degree and i use M445 Octura
The Temp after almost 5 min is 35 Celcius (95 Fahr) at motor and the Esc
At the capasitors the temp is 85 Celcius (185 FAhr)
The Weight of the boat ready for run is 2650grm (5.9 pounds) and the CG is 31cm (12.2 inches) from the back of the boat
The Strut is 3mm below of the ride pads
I was using the offset rudder but after some runs i realize that the rudder stays in the water and keep draging the boat slow. The same day i use the straight rudder and it was so big difference (No draging and more faster plain)
    Here is some photos

    Here is some videos
This one is with the offset rudder

    Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Also here is a test run with 5S
The same setup but with a little higher temp at the motor and esc was 50 Celcius (120 Fahr) for a 5 min run
The temp at the motor is in the rotor and i measured with leizer gun

This one is the straight rudder and a test run with 5S

I have no experience with those small 36mm can motors. I always run a 40mm can in mine. I'm sure you can get away with it on 4s but I think you need to do a few things:

        Change to a 442 or 642 prop
Check strut depth. With the 42 mm the strut should be 2.5-3mm below the bottom on the sponsons. In other words put the boat flat on a table and move the strut down until you have a 2-3mm gap inbetween the rear edge of the sponson and table. Bout 1 degree positive angle on the prop.

Make sure your wires are the shortest they can be within reason.
Add a cap bank to it.
Make sure you have a 2.5mm gap between the strut and drive dog
Quality motor connectors and battery connectors is a must.
I'd use 5000mah 50c batteries at the least. You could probably get away with 40c with a quality battery but I prefer to over do it.

The strut height is already 3 mm belon sponson and 1 degree
I'll try the 2.5 mm gap between the drive dog and the strut
My batteries is 6000mah 60 -120 C and the cable that connects them is 10AWG with hi amp plug
Where I can put the extra cap bank???
I already have change the 2 pieces factory cap from the esc with the 1000uf from the Seaking 180A
I run now with the octura M445 but I was thinking to order the X442 M642and M640 so I can try them.
            Now I will order!!!!!
            I also have the Octura V942/3 ,V940/3 and a X440/3 CNC prop
What is the advance of the offset rudder????
What is yours boat weight rtr ( with hatch and batteries)???
Thanks so much for your answers!!!!

Most of these boats I've built weigh in the 9lbs to 9.7lbs range. Seaking 180 and tp 4060 was one good setup. It did 77mph with no problem. Might be overkill on the motor tho. A 4050 will work just fine. I maiden one today that did 50mph in play mode on 4s with a 1977kv motor turning like 22k rpm. It's setup to run 6s with a bit more prop for 80+mph. The offset rudder gets the rudder out the thust cone. When the boat is on plane and out the water, the bracket is not dragging like it does at low speed.

kfxguy: Would it be a good idea to shorten battery wires? The stock revo wires do seem a bit long, especially I have to always scoot them so that they're not all over the place when I'm connecting them in series on each side of sponson. What is the purpose of shortening them anyway?

Shorter wires equal less resistance. Every little bit helps

You running at 9 to 9.7 lb
I'm running almost at 6 lb.This isn't to low weight for my boat???

The weight I listed is with two 3s 5500mah batteries included.

And mine boat with 2 hard cases 2S 6000mah 60-120C include hatch is exactly 5.84 lb (2650grm)
That's even close to your weight.
When I use 5S is 6 lb of weight
My point is that I think my boat is so light and maybe I have to put some weight in it
