    New to the "Electric Stuff"

    Hi Guys,

I have just joined the forum, but seen some familiar "faces" here as I'm a member at the Jim's Dock for simetime now.
I have several gas boats and now I'm looking at get a Electric one to add to the fleet and need some advise.
The hull would be a Mono and 30-40" range of size.
I contacted Steve (Insane) to get some prices of a FE 34 Mono and I'm now having a look around at what other options I have too.
What other hulls are good ones to go for? Any RTR worth to look at?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

    Miguel.

I apologize if this offends you but I don't know your skill level.....can you build your own boat? If so there's quite a few choices out there. In the size range your looking a kbb34 would be my choice. The delta force 35 is also a popular hull but I've never owned one so I don't know much about it besides its popular. The kbb34 is a very high quality and strong hull. Better build than any other hull I've ever seen. It wi do pretty much anything you want but the price rage reflects the quality.

      Hi Travis,

Thanks for your reply. No offence taken!
I've seen some posts about build and I must say that is quite different from building a Gas one.
I probably would need some help or go for a RTR one.
My problem with RTR's is more about quality really as I want something good, and IMO when you
buy an RTR, after you change all the bits and fix everything to make it a good runner, you have spent the
same amount of money if you get a good one to start with. But that's just an opinion, I could be wrong.
Where are the Kbb34 available to buy from?

      Thanks once again.

        Hi Miguel,

I've seen you on the Dock. Welcome to OSE. Choices, choices ! If you're staying in 34" P-Mono territory there's lots to look at. I've looked over the KBB 34 and it looks promising 'tho for it's price both builders I observed did an inlay to reinforce the hull which was a curious decision on what is said to be a hull worth all that money. OTOH the IB 34 is a proven P-Mono race winner - last year it was NAMBA District 19 High Points Champion for the year-long four-state championship and as you know it comes out of the same fabrication shop as the World Famous Insane raceboats shop and is built to the same gasboat standards of toughness. No inlay needed.

For a P-Mono-class runner, or just a solid, racewater stable hull I'd give the IB34 some thought. Steve will explain the stages of build you might consider or I can as well.

Two white IB 34's in racewater doing the trick :

The kbb34 comes from Keith Bradly boats. I'd take a look at what tony is recommending tho, he's more up to speed on racing setups than me. I'm more of a sport boater.

          Awesome video btw!

Actually if I had the means, I'd build a KBB34 and go after the D19 P-Mono class. From the pictures, which I've pored over and over it looks like a very capable hull design from the standpoint of racewater stability given its ample freeboard. 'Ya gotta finish to win and the KBB34 looks like a survivor in the rough.

It really is a nice hull. I like it a lot, and it's becoming my favorite boat. I guess I'm coming around from being just a cat guy and being more open minded. For some reason I thought it would be impossible to make a v hull go as fast as my cats. This one surprised me a bit.

                Thanks Tony!

Steve was the one who told me to get some info here. I was quite surprised when he didn't have any hardware recommendations for the hull!
Glad I joined the forum as there is a lot to know and learn as Gas boats are way simpler than this. Not trying to compare but is a totally different way of doing things.
Tony I'll PM you to get some further info if you don't mind!
And also will investigate further about the KBB 34 as well. I'm in no hurry and want to get the right things.

                Thanks guys once again!

MG-35, you already know about running RC boats and that knowledge is what a lot of newbies lack. FE boating is different and you have had some good suggestions so far as far as the hull is concerned. What is your budget..do you want to race...and is quality of the components high on your agenda?

                    Hi Douggie,

Yes, I want to build a boat for Race at the Club to start with.
As far as budget is concern, I want to have a good boat and if my budget can't reach it, it will just take me a little longer that's all.
Good quality and reliable components would be good, as long as they are not over priced, so I would say... value for money might be the key.

                    Thanks,

                    Miguel.

Miquel, I am not a racer, but there are many on this forum that are, some whom have already chimed in, they and others will steer you in the right direction. A few suggestions though, buy the best batteries, ESC, motor and charger that your budget will allow and let the forum know what you want to spend and listen to their advice on wiring, connectors and other hardware suggestions. Good luck and enjoy FE racing.
