Thanks for the input. I guess I will keep researching before I buy.

Pro boat blackjack29v3 good rtr out of the box.can be run on 2-2s =4s 2-3s=6s packs Good to learn on.4s. Fast on 6s... Use 50+c battery s and balanced and sharpen prop. Cats are easy to set up. Don't get a spartan. You will keep putting money into it trying to get the thing right on 6s.

I have a HK Genesis and love it. Keep it at 4s, get an Octura 445prop, and a sufficient ESC. I got a Swordfish 200 amp for my boat, it runs great, and stays cool. Learn to drive boats at speed, how to correctly maintain them, them look into building something later on when you've fine tuned your skills with the boat. One good thing about the genesis is there's always a buyer for one when you decide to sell it. Also, you mentioned you have a P1 hull, why not build that one?

I would have to order all the parts and its unclear if the parts come with hardware (screws, nuts, etc.). Just seems like an easier route to buy a ready to go boat.

Good call. If you try to build a Venom P1 KOS to run as fast as you want, this is what you're in for: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...-P1-Mono-Build

One of Keith Bradley's 33" MHZ Mystic builds is for sale right now, in the classifieds, for a great price. No Spartan or even mildly modified Genesis will compare to the electronics and strengthening put into that hull: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...MHZ-Mystic-SAW

Only buy that if you want to make your friend cry.
