what flex or wire drive setup to use?

I have a bk bandit s cat with a nemesis 8xl on 4s. The current flex shaft measures .128 (.130 flex?) With 3/16 stub. I never had flex issues with this boat before but stepped up to higher c batteries and a 642 prop today and the flex let loose. Before I order a replacement, I just want to know if this is an ideal drive for this setup or if I should swap it out now for something else? Thanks.

078 wire or certainly a 150 cable is needed for that setup.

That's what I thought. This boat was built about 8 years ago or so and was running 12 cell nimh, so that is probably why they had me use the .130 cable. Want to build me a drive for it :)? It will need a 3/16" stub or I'll need a different strut. Will wire make an "s" bend? The motor is laying flat in the hull, so it needs the s bend. No room under the hatch to angle the motor.

Even back in the NiCad days most people round these parts were using .150 flex for 12 cell boats. I'm not a fan of "S" bends, but if you really have to have one, go with a flex shaft not wire drive.

Yes...the wire does not like an S bend. Sure I can get you one or you can get one right here from Steven as well.

Sounds like a boat built by Chris Fine...is that possible?

If your going to step up to a thicker flex you'll have to redo the stuffing tube as well.

Very close, good guess! Built by me, parts bought from Chris per his recommendation.

See above, this is what was recommended to me at the time. I have to admit, while it doesnt have a whole hell of a lot of runs on it compared to what you guys run, its the original flex from when I bought it, so it did last a while. I'm not a fan of the s bend either, but options are limited due to the hatch design not allowing the motor to be angled.

              Yup, already aware of that.

              Thanks for the info guys.

So just put a 150 cable in it. It will be fine for 4s
