    Name my project boat.

New to the forum and excited for my first build. I have been reading and trying to absorb as much as I can for the past few weeks.

I received my project hull today. It is an old nitro 31" fiberglass hull with 4" transom. (3.5 to top lip)
1/4 ply rails spaced 4" and they are glassed in very well.
It weighs just over 3lbs with the fiberglass electronics tub and bulky aluminum glow engine mount still installed.

Any ideas on who made this? I have no idea on age or engine that was installed. The prior owner removed nitro and AM gear before giving it to me.

Radio tub removed. Heat gun and razor knife made removing epoxy a snap. Mind the fumes though.
1/4" Plywood doubler on the transom is solid. Great!

Engine mount and old stuffing tube removed a long with the trim tabs. Hull weight is now 2.5 lbs.

And now on to deciding on the layout.....

Also included with the boat was this 4.5" oal rudder with no bracket. Should I use it?

          For setup I have a Castle 1717 or a Neu 1527 1577kV. Running on 4,5,or 6s.
Thinking about a seaking 180 or the swordfish pro+ 220amp (because of data log option)
Any thoughts? On my rig so far?

I'm planning to run 4, 5 or 6s and hoping to hit 50mph. But mainly want something sporty and reliable. I'm thinking I'll start with a x445 and go from there?

Any thoughts anyone? I would love some feedback.

Ditch the rudder unless u plan on making a bracket to extend it out past the leading edge of the prop but that will depend on the length of yor stinger of strut u decide to use

Other wise buy your self a rudder with correct length bracket 4" is typical

U should not hqve a problem seeing 50mph out of either of those motors even on 4s u can could probably see close to that with a larger prop. That would be close to your sport setup with better runtime than 5,6s

Thanks for the input. I was looking at making a bracket to extend the rudder rearward. The strut I have is a Grimm Racer unit for 25-35" hulls. I would lengthen the rudder bracket to match up.

Prather is what the hobby shop guy thought as well.

Gotcha. I have read that it will be better to start slower and work my way up as well
