I have seen only a couple of pictures of rc rescue boats in the forum, and was impressed with them. I especially liked the pool noodle adaptations, but dismissed that option for my use since I run mostly on windy/rough open water and the noodles would seem to be hard to control in those conditions. So I am sticking with my mostly scratch built pontoon model for now. It is based on Hobbyzone SuperCub floats. Changes I have made from original version were the addition of a 3rd rudder directly in the prop wash for low speed maneuverability and an oversized 70mm stainless prop with a Hobbyzone SuperCub reduction gear and motor mount to slow the rotation speed down for workboat usage. I have used this boat for many rescues. It is a little tricky getting it lined up with the capsized boat at long distances, especially in windy conditions. Reverse would be nice, but it keeps on going out on my esc's. Works a few times, then stops working altogether.
Could you all show your rescue boats and give the good and bad on them? I am always looking to build a better boat trap.
