    traxxas blast problems

HI, bought my neice a traxxas blast used to see if she liked rc boating. Got the boat today , the steering servo does not power up . Motor grumbles a lil on startup sometimes but otherwise nothing . ESC flashes 1 red blink when first turned on then nothing . Batterys fully charged. Don't think its esc as servo acts as if not getting power . POSS bad transmitter looks ok on outside . Thanks for any and all help . rt now I have a broken hearted 8 yr old .

    Bummer.

Ok so no steering out of the box right? But throttle is ok? First, I take it that out drive isn't jammed somehow? If it was you'd still hear the servo humming away as it tried to move.

I'd try re-binding the transmitter to the receiver. Should be instructions for that in the manuals someplace. Or online in the least.

Check where the servo is plugged into the receiver. Is it plugged in? check it is plugged in properly.

What you can also do is plug the steering servo into the throttle port on the receiver to test. Then the steering should operate when you pull the throttle. If no go then points to a dead servo - but could be a faulty receiver too. If you have other models you can plug that servo into those to test.

Might be that the steering servo got plugged into the wrong port too - have a look and try others if the receiver has them.

Does steering react to trim changes?

    Good luck

Thanks boat is used. Got steering servo working. But when you hook up motor lead to any reciver slot it runs with out radio , to get it to stop must turn off radio or boat . Are all the receiver slots supposed to be hot , or is esc stuck ? ThankYou

That sounds notoriously like your throttle range is incorrectly calibrated. With every transmitter & receiver set you need to calibrate your handset's throttle trigger positions. This sets where full throttle is, and where all-stop is in relation to where your throttle trigger is (assuming you have pistol grip trans).

Hit your esc's manual again and go through the process of throttle calibration. See if that fixes it.

Thanks but this has older stick style controller, so there is no adjustment . Motor comes on when transmitters turned on , will rev up after that with throttle on transmitter. Thanks for the help , don't know if needs esc or transmitter.

No, controllers a stick type traxxas 27 MHz 2 channel recievers a 2216 four channel am . Only by throttle switch when flipped down lowers stick position . Tried it with that down no change. Traxxas no.3810 thanks

27Mhz. Testing my memory..... but you still calibrate the throttle stick with those don't you?

Like - move stick to full forward & hold - connect boat batts / switch on - boat system beeps - move stick to full reverse - system beeps - move stick to all stop / neutral - system beeps to indicate calibration finished - throttle calibrated??

Something along those lines. Involves connecting the batts to the boat and going through a process with the throttle stick. Not just buttons etc on the tx.
