    2S power?

So I know this isn't technically a fast electric question but

Hypothetically if I were to run a single 2S lipo with something like a Leo 3660 3800kv how big a mono would it be able to push ~25mph and everything stay cool and happy? Looking at the OSE hulls I was thinking the DF 26 at least maybe even the 29"? My batteries are all at least 420A total discharge rating so that should be okay I think. Esc and motor are all up in the air. Just exploring the options and taking in all the knowledge I can at this point. My only experience was a build I did many years a ago with a prather 40" DV and KB 7.5 OB. It wasn't fast but handled the open lake fairly well.

The goal is just a lower budget first build to get my feet wet, just fun, no racing. Something that can handle rough water as good as can be expected, stable and easy to control. Really the ponds where we would use it most would be on the small side for any more speed. That will come with the next one

It seems RC boats start with 3S and go up so I thought I would see what kind of thoughts I got on this idea.

I would stay with a 26" hull if you only use one pack and not two in parallel. What batteries exactly do you have, it makes a difference because many battery retailers will list outrageous C ratings sometimes just to market them.

2S boats were common for some time but, the class dwindled because 4S spec classes made better sense with lower amp draws.

Thanks! I have a SPC 6000 80C, a SMC 9000 60C, and lastly a couple SMC 7200 60C batteries. I thought about shooting for a 2x2S in a series for 4S but I would need to buy a couple more batteries to have 3 matching sets. I guess that is not that big a deal.

        Jamey,

Look in the 26" range. Since you have large capacity batteries a single will be OK. The DF26 is a good choice although a single battery will somewhat limit motor/battery placement to keep side to side balance correct. Most people run the batteries on either side of the centrally mounted motor and controller.

You will likely have to place the motor in the rear and the battery directly ahead. The ESC and steering servo will be mounted off centerline.

Yeah I gotcha, I didn't consider that. The last thing I wanted to do was make it more complicated going 2S, that was meant to make it simpler especially with the relatively low speed goals. So speaking of which, even with 2x should I stick with 2S parallel or drop the kv in half and series the batteries? Any idea how the run times would compare?
