If you cant find an off the shelf unthreaded replacement get in touch with Jeff Wohlt @ rcraceboats.com. He makes custom flexes to your requirments, he also comes on this forum at times.

Why not use a threaded end flex shaft with a lock nut?

Can you just grind a flat spot on the threads?

to accept a collet style nut.

I was just thinking out loud since the OP did not specify why he wanted a non-threaded shaft with a flat spot as shown in his picture. I assumed that he has another means of securing the prop.......

It was a general inquiry no need to get your knickers in a twist lol.

                  Oh they aren't.
I'm just trying to wrap my head around the question, as it's quite clear what is going on in the thread.
Clearly he wants a collet style shaft, and tim suggested just grinding a flatspot in a threaded Rod to use the same sort of way....
How this is questionable, kinda boggles my mind.
                  As Martin suggested, Jeff wohlt

I read it as Tim asking, if you can grind a flat spot on the threaded shaft, not why can't you.
The interpretation of text is different for everyone i guess.
