    Pursuit trim tab setting?

Hi everyone, i would like to know wich trim tab to ajust on my boat? I would also know what is the influence of ajusting the inner tabs versus the outer ones, on the boat handling? Thank you!

My boat runs too wet. The boat is stock from HK. I run 4s and want to go 5s. The esc is a modified Mamba Monster2 from CastleCreations.

Start with the trimtabs parallel the hull bottom. Adjust small amounts at a time. I would suggest raising the stinger a little to free the hull and make sure that your cg is at 30%. I'll go take a couple of pics of mine.

Thanks for the pics, now the stigner thing became more clear! But still, what trim tab will have what effect on the cornering, hull elevation... and those thing? I.e.: if i raise only the inner tab, and leave the outer tabs to zero? Same question for the outer raised and inner leveled?

            Thanks for your patience!

            Andre.

              WHAT HE SAID.
The trim tab is just like the elevator on the back of an aircraft. You raise the trailing edge to raise the bow(positive attitude), you push the trailing edge down to induce negative attitude. But you start by having them in neutral trim attitude.
The inner ones have more effect when running straight, when you are turning and the boat leans, that is when the outside trim tab comes into play. Unless you are hooking and or spinning out and need to raise or lower the trailing edge of the tabs, leave them neutral and concentrate on the inner ones.
it is a blur, some boats only have a single set of tabs and the placement is in between, so it really is important that the COG and stinger/strut are adjusted correctly first.

Adjusting the outer tabs down will lift the rear of the hull in a turn, pushing the bow down and causing the boat to spin. Again if you adjust the inner tabs down too far then you will cause extra drag and push the bow down thereby causing the hull to run wet and adding load to the motor/esc. I suggest to set up as has been said and tweak slightly at a time until you get the boat riding and handling how you want it. Also what motor (size/kv) and prop are you running?

1620 kv is quite low for 4s, I run 2200 kv on a x443, and on 2p can run a x548. 1620 kv will be fine on 5s and even 6s. The stock prop is not so great, your x442 and the new grim prop will be better. Gotta get them spinning for speed though. You could try a x447 on 4s.

Hi, thanks for the tips! i plan to put a Castle 1415-1y 2400kv in it some time later this season, and pair it with a Tekin RX8 gen2. I only ran 3 packs in the boat with the stock motor, since i bought it. Do you think i can go with a x447-3 with this setup?

No don't put a x447-3 on that motor. I didn't realise that you had the stock motor in it. Stick with the 42 mm props. You won't get a lot more out of the stock motor, the best thing is to do the upgrade. You can try 5s but don't over prop that motor. To be fair upgrading to a 40mm can motor will give you the best from the boat, and the advantage of utilising props from as small as 38mm up to the 447-3 depending on whether you are heat racing or playing. I have also found that the faster the boat goes, the more the hull lifts out of the water. Even with extra weight of 2P on the x548 it lifts a good 1/2" or so further out of the water.

Ok, i'll stay with 42mm prop for the stock motor. But What about a Tekin 4038 1550kv paired with the Tekin RX8 gen2, would that combo works for the other props you mentionned?

You could only try it. Start small on props, check temps and increase and check until you find a good combination.

Hi again, i've tried 5s with stock setup. The boat is fast, but still, i think it runs too wet. Could this be caused by the battery position? I place them in the front, at the closest position of the motor. And would it be best to run 2p(one battery on each side), insteadof in the front middle? Here is the link of the tread of my vid:http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...k-HK-Pursuit-)
                              What do you think?
