    Tech Guys, PLease chime in...

I just happen to have this 35v 1000uf (picture) cap and I was wondering if I can use it instead of the originals... any thoughts?

Don't do it. Those Rubycon ZLH capacitors are special low impedance type. I think they are there for inductance (?) control. Call Castle's tech support and ask. Share with us what you find out.

      BTW, cap tech sheet: http://www.rubycon.co.jp/en/catalog/...inum/e_ZLH.pdf

This one is low impedance as well... and high ripple current.

Sweet accord, I'll try to find the thread that explains it all...
I'll contact CC and get the scoop on it.

Are you trying to improve on their design or are you trying to repair the caps that are on there?

just want to up the "uf" so the caps don't work so hard.

I spoke to Castle, and looks like you can go with bigger caps as long as they are the same high speed low impedance type. Those caps are there to smooth out the ripple current from the controller. But I think with bigger caps you will get bigger spark when connecting battery.

                  AntronX,
who did you talk to at CC, I have been trying to talk to peeps there and have no luck...
I believe these caps I have are Low ohm, high ripple... and yes, I'd probably get more spark but on a 2s1p pack it really is not all that bad... if it was a 10s pack, I'd be thinking about damping that spark a bit. Thanks for the info.

I called their number + option 1 for tech support. Did not get a name of a person i spoke to. They are very knowledgeable and having excellent tech support like that makes their products worth their price. For 2S i don't think it's even worth the trouble of unsoldering old caps, unless one broke off.

it's just to cover my basis, if that was the failure on my setup I'd hate it...

I'm surprised they advised you to make any change of this sort. I would think they would void your warranty if it even still is.
