    Teflon Sleaving

Pros and cons of running telfon sleeving in your stuffing box.

My 1/4" flex shafts seem to eat this stuff up. Anyone run with out it??

Yes, I run without it and have run without it on a couple boats. I really only use it on he big cat to help with water being drawn in. The ones I didnt use it on stayed dry and never had any issues with tube blow out. However I did see faster deteriation of the flex shaft itself even after greasing every few runs. So in my opinion it is better to run it but if your lazy like me, just keep an eye on wear of your parts.

I have run one boat with it.... It has been removed shall I say chew up hen removed. I will sleeve it with brass tubeing. Other than wear of cable (replace).
I see one less weak link in a system...I pretty must toasted the cells(over 200degrees) but the x power 100 and the 8xl both help up...After I bring it in I find the stuffing tube all jammed up by the flexhex... The one time I run it it fails...

I run both and don't have a problem either way. With teflon lined you have to keep it lubed real well and without you can get radio interference from the metal cable rubbing the stuffing tube and cable whip if your cable is real long.

Almost all nitro and gassers are running the cable without a liner and they don't see radio problems because of it...

Like I said I run without a liner in some of my boats and have no problems BUT in one of my gas riggers I had bad radio interference. The cable was very long and I think cable whip in the bare stuffing tube caused the glitching. I added liner to the stuffing tube and the glitching went away. So far that was the only boat that I had glitching problems with and now that I switched to 2.4ghz I have been glitch free for years.
