    stepped catamaran hull info

    Hi Guys
I have a 67 inch catamaran with a stepped hull , I am new to catamarans and have asked for info . Some people say they are not good , thing of the past and some say good .This hull has 3 plaining surfaces on each sponson , on the rear step ( when upside down on bench ) the top plaining surface has a slight negative angle and the outer plaining surface has a positive angle. Any idea on how this hull will handle when in the water.
Should I change it or leave it as is.
    Any suggestions much appreciated.

Nice looking hull there, who makes that one?
It looks like a Mystic style. I think the planing surfaces are just fine the way they are. The dihedral design will handle the rougher waters better. It will also 'air out' better and have less hull in the water at speed.

      Hoi Srislash
Not sure of what brand the hull is , I was able to lend the mould from a fiberglass supplier , they said it was a scale model of their offshore power boat. Also have been told by other guys that it looks like a cto3. But the hull is different to what most people have seen. Started this thread to get a feel for anyone who has seen this before.

Never change anything without running it as is first....you could make a good running hull into a disaster...try first.

            Hey Doby
Yeah I have come to that conclusion , I will just do the minor repairs needed and paint.
I don't know enough about the hull , it could be great and if I change it I could turn it into *!***!***!***!**.

              Hi guys
Anyone have any suggestions on what size motors to use in this size hull. I don't have much experience with electric boats , I have read some threads on this forum just not sure on what to go for.
              Cheers

So after searching the net for the past month or so , It looks like this hull could be a HPR CTO3. This is a older hull , but from my searching HPR are a very sort after design. Still looking for any info on a set up.

If you really want to spend some big $$
x2 LMT 3040 or 3060 (wind depending on lipo cell count)
                      x2 MGM Compro 25065
X? "Good Lipo Packs" 10-12s setup around 8000-10000mah

                      = potential speed of around 140+ km/h

other wise you can use some of the bigger TP motors and Swordfish 300A controllers for good speeds as well
