Thanks for these links. I have been looking on and off for something like this for a long time. I was able to download them to my IPHONE then Bluetooth link it to a battery powered speaker and now we have "official" race countdowns when the club is just racing for fun. MY other quest is to some day find a way to count racing boats automatically in a easy to set up cost effective way as they make their laps. Easier said than done!

Nope.... Well, it hasn't been done yet and it would help greatly at race events if a system was developed.

A system exists but they are a bit costly. We only have to count to 6. They have them for cars but they also tend to run quite a few more laps. Not a terrible idea though because it can be easy to lose count of laps if you don't call them out each lap, could greatly affect finishing positon if pit man doesn't count.

the ones for cars would have to have a loop run across the lanes..could be done with pvc maybe..but that's a lot of length to span...and not to mention transponders are around 80 to 100 dollars a piece..and also software to run is not cheap..but it would be nice..you could really have official timing

Didn't really consider the length the loop would have to run. 100 for a transponder is nothing compared to the cost of the system, they are hard to find also.
