    Hatch hold down screws?

    Hi Everyone,

Just wondering...at what speeds is hatch hold down screws needed?

I will be running a 45' Cat @ 65-70 MPH, for short bursts (will try at least ), in open ocean. I would really prefer not using them, as I like the clean look.

But, I certainly do not want it to separate in a crash either...

I'm thinking of using rare earth magnets, similar to the ones we use for Heli canopies to help hold it down along with MHZ latches ...with hatch tape (of course)...

Pics deleted...as I was unsure if it was appropriate..

Any and all thoughts will be very appreciated...

    Thanks for your time...

    Aloha!

i use them on all my builds so i dont have to use tape. Tape caused me to lose 2 hatches so i dont have faith in it. I use some very nice stainless thumbscrews. Id say with the size of your boat and speeds your looking at, it would be a good idea.

Rather than go by speed, I go by how much it costs. You get salt water in that boat and its donezo, make every effort to keep water out and that means using hatch bolts, and a hatch seal, and tape.

I know which boat you're building, 6 countersunk hatch bolts 4mm SS screws.
