    Aloha!

    Aloha Everyone...!

I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone...since I'm new here...

I hope its OK that I've posted this here... If not...my apologize...

I usually don't post up on forums, but because OSE (on-line store) has been so wonderful in their service, I felt compelled to say Thank You! I'm now a loyal and life time customer!!!

I just got my first boat (MC) and a Kyosho Jet Stream 888 (for my 10 yr old son) ... and have continued to fail terribly in my initial set ups ...This is where OSE comes in...

Thanks to their great store and very honest service.... I'm slowly seeing more success than failures...and having a great time through the learning curve...

Since I'm in Hawaii, OSE's service (mailing response, and shipping costs) is quite important to me... OSE gets a big "Yell Yeah!" from me, in terms of their fast and honest service!!! You guys ROCK!

    Some background:
For years...I've been into 1/10 and 1/5 scale Off-road trucks, crawlers, large scale airplanes and Helis, and now have migrated into boats... Being new to boats I chose the RTR version to get familiar with the engineering and gutted everything to replace with my electronics from my 1/5 scale trucks ( Castle/Mamba Monster stuff)....I enjoy the "building" aspect of this hobby...so...didn't even run it stock, as I like to go the "over kill" route ...in terms of power/speed... My simple rule is...If I can go Full Throttle (trucks /boats) without it becoming out of control...its too slow... I like having to control the throttle, and constantly try to run on the "edge" without losing it...I just get bored if I can pin it (full throttle) and just drive around...

All my trucks run 6S...so both boats run 6S as well...

After a good number of expensive failures (lost and/or snapped flex drives with $$$ props (gone to the bottom of the ocean), burned ESC's, speed induced cracked hulls,etc...)I'm finally beginning to see some favorable results thanks again to OSE...

The MC now scoots pretty darn good (well into 60+ mph...no GPS readings...open ocean)...hence the stress cracks

The Kyosho is still a "work in progress" looking for 60+ mph...

Anyways...thanks OSE for all your support!

    I remain a loyal customer...

    Aloha, Randy

Hi Randy and welcome, you will see that boats are more addictive than land rigs.................i do both. Where in Hawaii do you live? Do you have protected water to run in without waves and wind? Just curious. Make sure you clean out your water cooling sytems on your boats due to the salt, pump water thru the inlet tube................rig something up or use a Turkey baster!

      Hi Make-a Wake,

Hope all is well over there... I'm in Mililani, on the island of O'ahu (born and raised here)... We have some protected water, though most are too small for the MC speed...besides I like to paddle out to an outer reef, on my stand-up paddle board ( I sit when I run my boat) so as to not interfere with swimmers. I really enjoy watching it go air borne over the chop... it just looks amazing, and hearing the motor spin up when out of the water gets my attention... I Love IT! Of course, I know I'm going to flip, running on the "edge"...so I just paddle to it..flip it...and paddle back to the reef. Yesterday, it submarined going 50+ mph and contacted the reef which was @ 4-5 ft below... Ouch! Messed up the nose...man, but what fun that was!!! The MC was flying over the chop, until splash...very exciting!!! Did not think it would dive down that deep... lesson learned... I just dig the whole Off Shore Power Boat experience...and prefer open ocean over flat water for the excitement....

You are right on being addicting...I'm trying to talk myself out of building a Cat hull (MHZ Mystic C5000) from scratch, but seem to be loosing that battle...

Thanks for the advice... Yes, I always strip down my models to service and maintain them (the salt water adds to this point). Helicopters taught me that very important lesson (think crash..Yikes!). I'm running a mini self priming water pump in the MC...so, I just run a cooling line from the inlet tube into a bucket of fresh water and let it do its thing... The extra weight of the water pump system helps to keep the boat planted in the ocean. Since the testing phase of this system went well...I'll be wiring it up so that it can be activated (on/off) via my transmitters 3rd channel, and running on a separate batt.

      Take care, and happy boating!

      Aloha, Randy

Glad you are flushing the lines, system sounds neat!

I plugged my 39" mono into the mud bottom in 8 feet of water once, took it about 5 minutes to come back up, i was a bit worried but knew where it was in case it didnt
