    Aeromarine Srint Cat 36"

    Hi all
I am thinking about getting the above cat and need to know the following
Is the classic hatch the best for FE.
Is is it better to have one without the rails.
    All advice more than welcome.

The classic hatch is certainly easier, it will tape down to the deck stock, whereas the turbine hatch needs the turbine exhaust cutting back, filling in, and a little flat lip made behind it before it can be taped down to the deck. Whether it is better or not is more subjective, I knew the score before I bought mine and I still went for the turbine version, the aesthetic benefit easily outweighed the extra work needed for me.

I bought one with rails as I could get it off the shelf in England like that, and I would have had to get one shipped from the states with the extra expense involved with that had I of wanted one without rails, I pulled the forward bulkhead out pretty easily and if I wanted to I could have ripped the rails out without issues when I got it. Instead I decided to cut the rails down so I could just fit my cells over them into the sponsons and fix them in permanently, which was a bad decision as my cells have changed with technology over the years and my current ones are a little shorter and fatter than the originals so I have to pull the deck up and force them in there. If I was doing it again I would build rail free allowing easier access and more space whether you want to put cells in sponsons or on the tunnel (both are viable options).

Are you set on the Sprintcat? The Aeromarine Team Believer FE is based on the same hull but has a modified Avenger Pro hatch grafted onto it, which tapes down easily stock and is almost full with which gives you so much more room for gear inside.

Paul is right. I've have one with the classic hatch and rails for about six years - it is a great race boat and sport boat. I strapped everything between the rails and no matter what kind of crash I have (used it for SAWs and blew over in the 80s) everything stays in place. Contrary to "common knowledge", like most cats it handles just as well with the packs on the tunnel or in the sponsons. Always ran it on 6S with either a Neu 1527/1Y (race in mid-60s) or Scorpion 4025/1100 (sport in low 50s). Won a lot of races with it racing against hydros too.

If I was doing it today I'd get the Team Believer FE hull with the new hatch. Looks more scale-like and as Paul said it is easier to get into - and both the SC and TB have the same bottom. Can't go wrong with either IMO.

as u can see its pretty tight but it can be done...be carefull of the batterys hight if u put them in tunnel as the turban hatch is flat in that area and has to sit level....

Not quite the same bottom, I hear the 36" team believer is a full 36" long, whereas the 36" sprintcats are only 34.5" for some reason.

Yes, I am in the UK, I live in West Sussex on the south coast, are you from South Yorkshire? Feel free to contact me directly, I can put you in touch with the racing in your area which will be either at Bury North Manchester or at Bridlington on the east coast.

In the UK these boats would fit the SUPER-CAT class: Any tunnel hull or catamaran, single or twin drive system.
5s to 8s Lipo with any motor - cell weight limit 1120 (140gms per cell) Race time 6 minutes with 10 second mill time. Please Note that 'scale' hydros will be able to run in this class with up to 8s lipos within the class weight limit of 1120 grams.

I run mine on 8s 6600mAh Turnegy hardcases (stripped of their cases (6600 Aspecs save the scary stripping and I would go for those now, or if you can afford it Redzone 6800s)), Neu 1521/2.5D 1200kv (bought when we ran for 5 minutes, now we run for 6 a bit lower KV and smaller would be ideal, 1518/3.5D or even 1515/2Y maybe), Himodel 200GX-BEC ESC (no longer sold as rated to 8s and the components inside never were so I can't recommend it, but mine has done me well for 5 years so far), Detongued Octura x440 (works fine despite some saying that it is way too small), Chinese 6" rudder.

According to Remy (owner of Aeromarine) when I asked, the sponson bottoms are the same. I haven't actually measured a TB, but Aeromarine almost always lists the hull length as longer than it is. The SprintCat 40/80 is
listed as being 36" long but of course it isn't Any real difference is probably the bow portion extended an inch or so. No practical performance difference anyway...

but then (again): (from the Oxford English Dictionary)

"but when you think about the matter more or in another way":
