Don't run too much at half throttle???.?

Seems like I read somewhere where somebody said don't run very much at half throttle that the fast electric boats like to run at full throttle. Is running at half throttle harder on the electronics???

It does build up heat in the ESC faster. It's more of a concern if you are pushing the limits of your equipment.

The FETS in the ESC get much hotter when they have to stop current flowing 1/2 half the time.

This applies to brushless motors. Lower-powered setups like RTRs running stock voltage and props can handle a lot of part throttle running, but higher-powered setups (high amp draw) will generate a lot of heat in the ESC when operating below WOT. It is best to set up your boat so that most of your running will be at or near WOT by using the right voltage, motor Kv and prop. I used to see SAW boats blow their ESCs when running at low throttle going out onto or coming off the course. Most have learned that lesson.
