Rudder question for cat

Hi Guys and Gals,
I will soon be putting an Indruder S cat together with a single motor for 4s1p racing. The strut I'm using is set at 50mm from the transom and the rudder will go to the right of this. My question is, should the rudder be closer to the hull or further out? The rudder I want to use comes in the following distances from transom to leading edge
1. 38mm
2. 94mm

The rudder should be farther out so the prop has clean water so to speak.
