HiModel 200a opto or 200a bec?

Last time around I bought some 200 opto esc's. Is anyone running the 200 bec version?

I think these are the way to go..I've been using not these but the 60 to 100amp ones for over a year now, I bought one the other day and their now pistol compatible. I think you should stock them Steve they're great for sport

      thanks for the info!

I have sold a bunch of the 200 opto's and tested the opto with good results. But didnt get a chance to test a bec version, thats why I asked.

Anyone had some success in DP270 conformal coating these puppies without significant heat retention? I saw in another topic them watercooled by inserting brass tubes into the heatsink. See pic attached...
        Will the 200A OPTO handle my 11XL on 6S1P 4000mah 25C with S215 prop in a 31" cat?

          Steve,

The ideal thing will be to sell the HM200As waterproofed and watercooled, but then the price will go up as well. Maybe the makers can do it cheaper.
I use the bec version on 4s.

I run a couple of the BEC versions. Only on 4s though.
But according to the specs the BEC circuit will handle up to 8s input.
It would be good to know if anyone has run that sort of voltage through it.
The only problem I've had with one is that after many successfull runs It suddenly would not arm. Wouldn't even make a beep. But the BEC circuit still powered the reciever & steering servo.
            Cheers.

In other words : your suggested setup is a piece of cake for that esc.
The only question is : can the esc really handle 200Amps cont. ???

Probably not, but any suggestion as to which one can? That ESC was a total steal on Hobbycity, so if it blows my heart won't shatter like my 13XL's magnets.

Is the cat the China knock-off from the H&M Agitator ?
If set-up well, the esc is good enough for that boat.
                      Your setup is safe.

The cat is a converted Proboat Thundercat 31. See my build thread as well...

I ran my 200 on 8s using the BEC but it blew a component after a couple of minutes, this was in a 36"x14" balsa cat, neu 1521/2.5d 8s1p zippy 30C 5000s on an X646 with a single full size high speed digital servo on the rudder, it had the eagletree in and my highest spikes were 150A, I wasn't measuring servo current, all the FETs are fine and it still works with a seperate UBEC so I think it must be part of the BEC circuit that blew, but running with a partially blown ESC seems like a disaster waiting to happen so I bought another to replace it with the intention of running an UBEC but I noticed that there are two of the components that blew up on the new one so I may just use the on board BEC again, can anyone identify what the yellow components are, confirm that they are in the BEC circuit and whether them being doubled up will improve things.

the single blown component in the foreground looks to be the only damage, so if it can be identified I can replace it or upgrade it and get it back in use, if not it will donate it caps as well as its cooled heatsink to the new one.

the replacement has 2 of the blown components whatever they are.
