Cost Cuttimg Hits A New Low

Well, since mixing epoxy is an integral part of FE building, thought I will post this here . I have been using these mixing cups from Great Planes ( GPMR8056) for years. Most recent batch left me in shock : the plastic is worse than throw-away transparent cold drink cup, you can barely make out the measuring lines and if you handle it with a little oomph, it will collapse right between your fingers!DSCN7406.jpgDSCN7407.jpg vs.DSCN7408.jpgDSCN7409.jpg

You realize that GP is buying them from someplace else for a much cheaper price; right?

Since I purchased a 100g scale (I call it my drug dealer scale), I stopped relying on the markings. Now for some unknown reason the Dixie cups in the bathrooms are disappearing

It's not cost cutting, it's profit making. And of coarse, a good amount of those profits will be passed back to you the consumer, -----------

Oh hey, good idea. I have one of them around here I got from a friend that wasn't using it anymore. This is a good use for it. I have been going this route:

Real good for those small amounts for some of the build.

LOL, Have kids? Or cats? As mixing containers I use 3 ounce Fancy Feast or Meow Mix cat food containers or pudding cups. After eaten, put them in the dishwasher. For the cans, crimp the sharp edge with pliers. Very sturdy containers and as you can see I reuse them by the chunks of resin up front. Either judge the volume, they are only 3 oz after all, or use the syringe for exact measurements. You can pop the old resin out and reuse them if you want, or toss them.

Also good for keeping small parts together and rolling away.

I use any small container, tin, plastic cup etc. I use a plastic spoon to measure out the resin and hardener and then to stir/mix with. Throw away after.

+1 for small epoxy mixing, i use old business cards and eyeball it since it's typically 1:1. However, I mix my West Systems by weight on a scale.
