New JAE Rigger Question

I recently bought a RTR JAE p-spec rigger. It's has a stock AQ ESC and 2030 motor. I'm running a m-445. How do I get the boat to run straight down the straights without having to turn it left? It does not run straight when neutral on the wheel. I already have some left in the rudder. I shimmed the strut a few thousandths so it's turning left. Boat still pulls to the right. I pulled the turn fin off that came on it and down sized it, helped some. Only boat that I have ever owned that you cannot let go of the wheel and have the boat run straight. Runs 49.1 GPS with the stock s/b m-445 and low temps. I will not race this boat. I bought it just for Radio Time so I'm not putting time on my race hulls. I'm also going to let company and newbies run it. I appreciate the advice on sorting this thing out.

Many riggers will prop walk a little. The turn fin on the right side also gives you a extra drag so make sure it's aligned properly and SHARP. Prop selection and position can also make matters a little worse. Try a nice sharp ABC H7. It works very well with the JAE on a P-Limited set up. With riggers I was always taught to have the right side face of the rudder parallel with the side of the tub. But that may be to help speed in the turns while racing. That's usually all it takes for my boats to run straigt and I don't shim the strut. If you still have the boat pulling right after checking everything else, the easiest thing to do is offset the tub a little bit to the right. This gives the drag on the left sponson a little more leverage to make the boat run straight. I had a JAE with full P power pulling right and I spent a whole day trying to remedy the situation. I tried everything including bigger rudder and a longer rudder extension. In the end all it took was a 3/16 tub shift to the right. End of problem.

Make sure the sponsons are aligned, just because it's RTR doesn't mean it's ready to run well.
My buddy Johns did the same thing, was a misaligned.

Good point. The right sponson in particular needs to be parallel to the side of the tub. The turn fin has to be mounted tight and parallel to the sponson. Some folks use sponson toe-in which must be done with the left sponson, not the right.

Also make sure the shaft is straight where it exists the back of the boat that it's straight with the hull. Measure both sides to the center of it and slightly bend it left or right to align if needed. Even a little off will effect it.
