Ballraced Speedmaster Stinger
I’ve been using a home brewed ball raced version of a Speedmaster stinger for some time now.
A local machine shop counterbored the stinger 6mm diameter to the depth of the forward ballrace and brass tube spacers are used to keep the 3 bearings equally spaced over the length of the stubshaft. (see photo)
A little maintenance cleaning and oiling the bearings after a few runs keeps everything running smoothly.
All fitted to a Delta Force 26 hull which has had lots of use in different configurations, brushed and brushless setups up to 4s lipos, the bearings have yet to be replaced.
Not sure if it’s more efficient but the ballraced drivetrain ensures the prop runs straight and true.
