Turn Fin Placement on a Hydro

Hi all I am building a Delta Force 34 Hydro and wondering what the best placement for the turn fin would be. I have the fin and I think I know where to put it however would like some other suggestions.

    Thanks Johnl

        John,

It would help a bunch if you told us what fin and bracket you have.

I used the HD turn fin bracket from Kintec.

Glad I saw this thread. Been dragging my feet rigging a Vortex 34 - couldn't source a fin that I thought would be the right size (I'll admit I didn't go too far out of my way).... but the other day I was at Insane and grabbed one of these. Will need to do some trimming to the bracket and probably raise the fin in the bracket a tad. Still thinking about it

            Designed for bigger hulls, but

That is actually a very good turn fin as well, I bought the turn fin for my Popeye but used it on my PT 30 Stealth Hydro. On the PT it worked much better than the UL-1 fin. Check out the vid.

I am aware that a 34" hydro is bigger.

Thanks all for the response. I already have a fin and bracket I got from Steve at OSE. I just need to know where on the sponson to locate it. If need be I will post a picture when I get home. I am thinking as far out as I can. The fin was a little expensive but looks awesome and is curved and machined to fit perfect.

When I install the fin on FE30's, it's spaced to the outside of the sponson. The sponson has an inside ride pad just like the Vortex34. I plan on installing the fin on my Vortex outside FWIW.

                  FE30 fin position:

flraptor Thanks for the pictures and all I actually am building an orange one as well. Believe it or not the build looks almost the same as yours, however no graphics. They are awesome. What did you use for the decals? They look great thanks again for the info!! I will post some pictures when I get a chance a little later.

The decals are all hand cut from some vinyl I got from my local hobby shop, it's made by Monokote and come in 5"x36" sheets all colors and the checkers too. I usually line my turn fin up with the outside edge of the ride pad and up about 3/16 from the bottom.
