Sorry no pictures. The hull is filled up front in the sponsons with spray foam so that adds some wieght. What prop and how deep from the bottom of the hull to the top of the drive shaft tube?
PT-45, 109mph, finally gave up after last bad crash
      H&M 1/8 Miss Bud 73 mph
      Chris Craft 16 mph

My runner is also foam filled like this. FYI mine runs 3s2p on a Castle 1512 2650kv and SK 180 fully waterproofed because that is my biggest problem with this one.

Oh, and have been running 37mm props, some are cut down larger props but I have been sticking with that size.

Guys, there is at least one "Race Prep" thread on here that I did showing exactly what was done to my Miss Elam for P-Ltd racing. That boat was pretty amazing once I had her prepped.

Stock Rudder... I don't recall changing it, other than sharpening.

                  Darin,

Do you believe adding weight to the front will help the "Walk" i am experiencing at all? Maybe not completely but a little, your thoughts?

No... Well... Maybe it will allow a few more MPH before it happens... Mine would hit around 48 and then it would start. It's not a weight/CG issue.

That being said, you must add weight to the tips of the Sponsons (do it up inside... mix some lead shot with some epoxy and pour it into the tips.) to get the CG correct.

Great info as always Darin! I just picked up the 1/8 miss bud gas and was wondering if some of your improvements would correlate to the larger hull?

I've never actually looked over a 1/8th version, but the fundamentals of these updates definitely apply. Flat, correct ride surfaces are a must. Sharp trailing edges, etc...

Darin, I really appreciate the info, Can you clarify your previous statement that I have included below, on the surface it is conflicting or maybe I'm not grasping the full concept of what you are aiming at communicating.

The sponson walk tendency isn't caused by lack of weight. It's caused by lift issues in the tunnel. There is a aerodynamic "break" in the tunnel floor, about 2" from the leading edge, that causes a "high-lift" area at the front of the tunnel. When you go fast enough, the front lifts off and then prop torque causes the hull to "walk".

This is separate of the CG. Adding weight to get the CG right is necessary to allow the hull to run correctly in the first place. Adding more weight to tips of the sponsons will allow you to achieve the proper CG.

However, if you add more weight than necessary to do this, you'll just make it front heavy.

Adding weight ON the CG, however, making the whole boat heavier, will allow you to go faster BEFORE the walk starts happening, but won't fix it.
