I am sending them back and will pay for the rebuild/replace! I didn't have the 2s's set up in series --- just one pack per ESC! Nothing changed so I'm guessing it was something I may have done!

As far as the same batch ... no got one from OSE and the other From Castle during their settlement sale!

Hey Fluid with my 1 time Veterens discount I'll pay the same for 1 - 240 as I would for two replaced/rebuilt 120's!

Down the road I'm sure I'll use the 240"s I just have a thing for twins!!!!!

Hey Eodman, I think you are about to make a mistake I did with getting 240 after burning up 120. I found out that i did not really need 240 for my setup to be safe from blowing my ESC. All I needed was to set up right motor with proper voltage and the right prop. I needed ampere measuring data logger to do this job right. I think you should invest into Eagle Flight V3 instead of buying Hydra 240s for your boat.

You said you want 240s for upgrading later to bigger motors for more power. To increase your power, you should increase your voltage first. Go to the voltage limit of your Hydra 120's. Get 6S battery pack. At 6S, Hydra 120 can do maximum of 2600 watts. That's 3 horse power max per motor!!! (Assuming your motors are 85% efficient at that kind of load.) Then figure out proper Kv of the motor you will need to get the RPM you want. Neu makes many different sizes of motors, and you will find a pair that will work right in your setup.

Also, always aim to keep the amps in your system to a minimum, while getting the wattage you want. More amps means more heat in your system. More heat is less efficiency. Less efficiency is less runtime.

I originally had my twin Jolly set up with twin Feigao 8XLs, twin Hydra 120s on 4S each, and with X442 props it all worked fine.
I ran this set up at full throttle and part throttle while I was trying to sort out the handling of the hull, and nothing got hot.
Current draw was about 70 - 80 amps each.
There is something strange going on to smoke both ESCs.
        Graham.

Thanks Guys .... I am going to replace the 120's with 120's, I have heard that the wait time on rebuild/replace from Castle may be long - that said my intention is to pick up another 240 for short term!

I am looking to build a new boat this winter(perhaps Shockerman's 42 inch MTI Cat)so the 240's would be used in that eventually!

While I love my Jolly all I did was assemble the running gear and put it in the water! For my next project I would like to take the next step in the process .... who knows maybe in a year or two I'll try my hand at a scratch built boat ~ hull and all!
