    Is this ok?

    Hello all!

Well I ordered all the gear and now have most of it, but waiting of course for the motor.

The concern I have is about the Hull. Last night I was taking picture of it for a few guys here at work to come up with some paint designs. Needless to say when I got to the rear of the boat I noticed that the drive shaft seems to be bent to the left.

I was a bit... freaked out to say the least. I'd assume that it would need to be straight, but hey I'm new so maybe this is ok? Either way I thought I should ask you fine people if this is normal. I've sent an email to Steve (since I bought it here at his shop) and now just waiting for a reply.

    Here's the pic's.

Ok that’s not good at all.

I just bought it from OSE last week and got it on Thursday. I guess I’ll have to send it back to Steve and get another Hull.

Well damn now back to the waiting game.

did you get the boat with the trans already installed from Steve?
If yes I guess Steve mounted it (or someone else) this way for a valid reason... certainly to counter prop walk?

Thats what I'm trying to understand. Steve said they mount all the gear at Toysport and that it is to offset prop walk.

GOD it sucks being such a newb. I feel worried half the time from total lack of knowledge, the other half from half knowledge.

So I'm guessin it is for the 'prop walk', when I saw it I was like.... now what!

Sadly I couldn't find ANY pictures to show me what the drive shaft looked like, so I have nothing to compair it too.

well, it's just the same for every hobby, there's not only one solution or reason, some would keep it straight in line with the hull, some other (I think mainly in Europe) would completely offset motor and trans...

Ed, has a point with the offset. I would still have the drivetrain in line with the hull. My 2 cents..plus the offset seems excessive to counter prop walk.

                  Well damn,

Steve says it's how the company builds them, so basically he orders it, they do their test, take off the rudder, etc. box it up and ship it to the U.S. Then he sends it out to the buyer.

Anyway you guys feel that it's a bit much... me being the new guy I have to listen to the experience so I am receptive to what you say, just not sure how to do it or if it should be done.

So should I wait for the motor and try it out to see if there’s a problem or where can I get it aligned? There is no way in hell I’d try doing that myself.

I have sent an email to Toysport at the same time I sent an email to Steve. So I’m sure they’ll give me an official response.

Jim, we are all learning. The Toysport method might be spot on, but I think it will depend on your motor/prop/rudder length choice.

I think it looks about right. I've shimmed struts in the past to put a little angle in them to counteract propwalk. The one in the photo could have used a bit more taper in the shim between the hull and the strut.

Jim, the Doctor and Casey know their stuff. Try the Toysport setup and let us know your feelings.

Guys let me start off with a BIG THANK YOU!!

Yes I'll try it out with the stock setup the way they have it and let you know how it works.

I'll be going with the following in the boat:

                          Neu 1521 1Y Motor
                          Castle 180 Esc
                          2x 6s 5000mAH lipo batteries in parallel

Damn if I can remember the prop, I'll need to order more anyway since many have said that they'll have 10+ and since I'm not sure I should do the same. Steve gave me a couple carbons to try out as well.

Are there a few other sizes you'd get with that setup?

Again thank you, honestly it's nice to have you guys around, now you all just need to move by my home so I can buy you all some beer!

When I bought my Helicopter back in the day I did the one part at a time upgrade and ended spending WAY more than I should have, so I though this time I’d spend a bit more up front, than only do minor upgrades from there.

Thanks Scot, I’ll order that prop as well 
