    Bent speedmaster rudder bracket

    Hey guys,

after going to the lake today i walked away with two boats both with bent rudder brackets. The first is my Deltaforce 21 with a 6s setup running at 3kg, this boat took a nasty tumble in the turn. Normally i run cut down rudders but today i decided to run full blade which was a huge mistake as you can see in the video.

I had one similar the other weekend. I thought it might of snapped when I straightened it up But it didn't.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

          Thanks Chris

I might give you shout over the rudder bracket as i have bent two on the same day on different boats. I am waiting to hear from a friend as to whether he has any spares first.

Yep the picture was just to how how long the rudder is, i have been running speedmaster rudders cut down for years without ever bending a bracket when the boats have taken a tumble, but this weekend i decided to run full length blades too see what the difference in handling characteristics would be. Unfortunately both boats on there first tumble bend the brackets as shown in the video and in the pic below.

I think i will be going back to the shorter blades to stop this from happening again.

Agreed .....also had a Speedmaster rudder blade bent on my twin rigger after a bad flip...substitute the whole rudder by a CMDI one .Gill

Rule of thumb 1-1/2"- 2" below the tip of the prop is all you need !!
