To help people answer your question, "what is the most popular size" is easier to answer if there is more clarification to application. Otherwise you are going to just get people's various opinions on what they like rather than for application.

I plan to run 10L in a 4S hydro setup. The guys I run with are all buying the same boat yet I guess we arent gonna all run the same motor. one went with ammo, one with 9L, and me going with 10L. I wouldnt expect to see much over 60Amps being drawn with any of these setups in a small hydro so it should make for some driving skills.

Seems like to most common is the 8, 10, and 12 motors. I want to get one for my 25" mono because my 380L is too small. Right now I have 3S 2500mah packs and would like to use those if I can but will get new packs if needed. Would be nice to get about 44-50mph and about 5-6min run time. What do you figure?

A 10L will get you in the 40 range. But you will also need to run (2) 2 s packs in series with a 120 amp or better esc to keep it safe. 5000mah packs should get you to the 3-4 minute mark for runtime at full speed. But I'm Not sure how the hull would handle the added extra weight.
