The hobby ease boats look like a pretty good deal, especially if you have a lot of spare parts lying about. You can't get a decent paint job for what they cost complete.
They do look good but they need some work. The gel coat also starts to crack from the first outing too. I just wick some thin ca glue into them.
The little 3660 2700kv motors are only for a 3s set up but with a decent motor & drive line they can get along ok. But they are a budget boat remember. Most of those hulls are made by Vantex, I think.
I race this one in both 4s & 6s Cat class.
Here's a video on 4s.
Looks like it's moving along great and looks even nicer in the picture. They look great for sport running, I'd sooner be reinforcing, laying carbon fiber in and upgrading the drive then attempting paint like that! By the way I was over to rc groups on that link to your other work, wholly crap man! That's some nice work! Did you get the C.H.A.R.C. working to your satisfaction? That's quite a project to take on, amount many others you have there. To many to comment on.
A big plus, at least with the ones that I have, is that the paint & decals are all clear coated over too.
Thanks for your comments Fella. Glad you like some of those projects.
The C.H.A.R.C. has been sitting idle for too long. It would still sit in the water a bit tail heavy if I sailed it now. I haven't taken any weight out of the back yet since I last played around with it. Maybe one day.

+1 very impressive 785, that charc is a neat project
Thanks.
That's where I learnt that "scratch building" really means that you stand around a lot, scratching your head, trying to figure out how to do things.
