Miss Hydrofoam ? anyone have one ?...

    Hello

I just got a trade offer from a local here that somewhat intrigued me. He offered to trade my mean machine for a Rio ep mono, Thundercat 31 cat, and a Miss hydrofoam, which is a prop driven 3D type hydro foamy

I was wondering if anyone has a miss hydrofoam and what you can tell me about it ?. since I'm not much into 3d flying, I was wondering about the possibility of locking out the elevators & running it as a conventional hydro and on the snow in the winter ?. Any thoughts ?. Thanks

GS,If memory serves me correctly(fuzzy/old/etc.),I saw a vid on the foam boat quite awhile back, and the thing does fly!! Super light, not sure about conventional running. Could be fun and a few laughs.

We have one similar to that and it is called Storm Launcher by Air Hog
        Ours has 2 props
Never could get ours to do what you wanted
Best I could do is get it up and then fall back down :)
Was not long before there was duct tape involved
If you think the other two boats you are offered in your trade are equal to yours and this is just a bonus then fine but I would not put much value in the foam boat

If you want to play in the snow just use your regular boats
Been awhile since the snow was right (fluffy on top) but I have run my cat on the snow and last winter I ran my shovel nose (used a bit bigger prop and took the turn fin off , worked great)

          Hi guys ,

I had surgery this morning so I'm going to be puttering around the house and taking it easy for a couple weeks. I'll get together with this guy and get a hands-on look at this boat and see how everything works. as another idea maybe I'll touch bases with our local airplane junkie and see if he would be interested in trading this thing for his proboat volare he's got up for trade on Craigslist

Unfortunatly I didn't take advantage of the situation and get some nice pics with my camera (sorry my bad ) . however I got a hands-on look at the Miss hydrofoamy, and I have to say I was impressed

its brand new in the box, with a 4 channel 2 stick radio & a brushless outrunner motor mounted on a brass stuffing tube coming out of the top of the cockpit spinning about a 7.5" puller próp on 3s lipo, so it's a true airboat design.

The hull is about 27" long & weighs next to nothing (probably 9-10 ozs.) and it's constructed of stout white styrofoam (think of a cheap beer cooler at your local grocery store) , but seems fairly sturdy with sharp crisp lines. it would be a great candidate for epoxy or resin glazingto add strength and structural rigidity.

in the rear of the boat the uprights for the spoiler also double as a dual rudders for steering. directly underneath the spoiler and level with the deck are two elevators the lift up and down so it'll take off and fly like an airplane, hence to the fourth channel on the radio.

I really like the unlimited hydro look of the boat it really is pretty sharp . it also has something else going for it if you think about it. it would be a really simple thing to glaze the hull & lockout the elevators and run it as a true airboat. but since it's a true airboat but a hydro at the same time you wouldn't need a turning fin because of the dual rudders outback, meaning you could turn it any direction you wanted to unlike a standard hydro with a turn fin. that would be nice although you would still have to herd it around the turns or hang a rudder outback, just my .02 cents worth

Hhhhhhmmmmmm, maybe I'll snatch it and turn it into a winter project, eeerrr I mean I need another project like I need another hole in the head ...
