Newb looking for some help.
Setup:
Traxxas Blast
VXL 3500 KV Brushless
90a Hobbyking water cooled esc
40mm trim tabs
40 mm turn fins
octura Y535 prop (on the recommendation of a well respected online boat retailer)
on the factory plastic prop with no turn fins or trim tabs the boat flew on 3s but was having overheat issues with ESC (along with handling issues) so i picked up the 90a water cooled, trim tabs, prop etc.
got it all installed today and the boat was a dog. it wouldn't plane and was slower than the factory brushed motor on nimh.
the boat was trimmed all the way down and the tabs were set neutral. It seems the motor never got up to speed.
before everyone says "ditch it, the blast can't handle brushless" etc, i'm well aware that this boat isn't designed and can't properly handle the power, along with the vxl being too high kv. I have basically nothing invested in this project and i'm just looking to learn and have some fun.
do you see any obvious problems? is the prop too big? it seems big compared too the factory plastic jobby.
I ran out of daylight to make small adjustments but it seemed like the problem was too big for a small adjustment to overcome.
suggestions?? thanks!
