Set Up Questions for 96.8mph Shocker

    OSE Fam,

Went out today and did some further testing with some new combinations with my Shocker Single. Wanted to get you thoughts on some prop set up questions. What would be an upgrade in a prather prop from an Octura X646 or M645? Is there an ABC prop that is comprable? Also, What work could be done to the ride pads to improve stability and performance? What does "Blue printing" mean?

Check out the Thread of the pass!

I have had good performance from a Prather 230. It is slightly larger in diameter and pitch than the x645, with slightly more lift. If you try it, you may have to raise the strut a few mm - or not. Watch for increased heat, the P230 will load the motor more than the x645 did but speeds will probably be higher too.

    .
I really like the performance of the ABC pros over the Octura and Prather in hydros, but they have too much lift for most monos and cats without some work. Great job BTW!

Fluid....... Thanks for the insight. I was thinking about trying the Prather Prop, so maybe i'll give it a shot.

Can you share your insight on what "Lift" is when talking about prop selection. What attitude can I expect from lift, what tuning would I have to do. When you say "raise the strut a few" do you mean strait up and down or with positive/ negative angle. If your talking about just strait up and down, how would I tune on a twin where the angles of the strut can must be adjusted?

You can hit the ride pads with 220 and a sanding block to sharpen the sponsons and all the corners, don't over do it and use more attention to the last 10 " or so of the boat !!! keep a eye on your gel coat you just need to keep everything flat square and sharp finish up with 400 ! good luck when your ready for a prop I will do a prather or a ABC up for you !!

He's got some props he's tweaking for me right now. I'll be armed with a small arsonal of batteries for next weeked. I'm hoping to hit 100 on 7s.....congrats on your speed! That thing is moving. Have you tried it back down on 7s? Just wondering the speed difference is between the 8s your running and 7s.....give me an idea of what mine might do on 8s. You still running a SeaKing 180?

By the way....sharpen the rudder on your daytona and I'll bet you money it passes 70. Do the same on the shocker and it will pick up about 1mph.....
