Twin Cat Build ---> Need Help!

Sorry to post again... but no one has really answered this questions yet. Please be knowledgeable with experience before you answer... really want to be sure before I invest a lot of money.

Okay so I have a couple questions... I recently bought a Mono that has a Leopard 4082 - 1600kv and a 180a ESC. I am board with the small mono and would now like to step up to a larger twin. I would like to utilize my existing electronics and just duplicated my setup for the second drive. So my questions are...

    1) Is there any reason a dual Leo 4082 - 1600kv setup is not suited for a larger twin cat? Is the KV appropriate? I want to end up with a fast boat that runs cool and efficient with the emphasis being on running cool and having long run times.

    2) What would be a good size hull for this setup? Obviously the bigger the better but like I said in post 1, I want the electronics to maybe be a little oversized for the hull so that it doesn't have to work as hard to go fast and get long run times.

I am looking at anything in the 35inch+ hull... any ideas what would be "best" for what I am trying to do?

I could really use the help. ThanksTop Report this postReply with quote

Most cats up to 45" or so will run well with that setup on 6s. Not 100mph fast, but fast enough to get comfortable with the setup. Always start with small props and only step up if there is room for it. Soo many hulls to choose from, $$ will be your limits. HPR115 and MHZ114 are on my personal list.

The mhz 114, or perhaps check out keith bradley boats 45" hull. Similar to a mystic but with better hardware imo. It is possible to build this boat correctly as your first build if you ask a lot of questions, best part is you have a lot of us willing to help. If not I suggest having Keith build it. Running a 1600kv leopard 4082 setup in a twin setup really is a great idea, on 6s it will be fast enough for fun but you'll have a wide margin that allows you to experiment with props.
