Bought a Aeromarine Sprint Cat set up nitro but brand new. Wand to run it electric on i guess 6 cells. I am new to boats and can use some help on what I need to buy to set it up. It has running gear for nitro on it. Dont have the boat yet but there is a nitro motor mount in the pic.

I built one(36") last winter. A bunch of guys have and run them, but I couldn't find any build threads to research when I did it. I did have a couple threads though, and some experienced members gave some good input. Here you go......

And then some troubleshooting, never did find what to point the finger at, little has changed and she runs fine, just needs some tuning to get up to speed...

Hope that helps. My private off road rc track

You couldn't have picked a harder boat to build for your first boat. First thing I would do is get rid of the rails and make the back of the transom flat for the hardware to mount."Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex... I believe Jay Turner ran one and kept the rails. Two 6S packs on top of the tunnel. Neu 1527 1Y. You're probably going to have to redo the stuffing tube to get the motor in the correct position. We'll get you hooked up Gary. I've got all Jay's set up info tucked away on a MS Word File. Biggest PITA may be making the hatch easy to tape. May have to do a little FG work.Mike Chirillo

You can always buy the classic hatch, tapes up real easy. Chris/dasboata got me mine, I think they're reasonably cheap.

The sprintcat has enough room to mount hardware as the top deck doesn't overlap as badly as your boat, Randy. I'd keep the rails. I mounted my cells just as Jay did. However, most 6s 5000's will be too tall for the hatch to seat. Go with 4000mah packs.Comment

I have a 30" Sprint Cat running a Leopard 4082 motor at 1600 kv with a Sea King 180 v2 esc. On 6s, its will run mid 60's with ease. Its a fun boat to drive, but it will keep you on your toes. I run two 5000 mah, 3s packs in series, but im thinking about running a 6s2p setup next year with 4,000 mah packs. 5,000 mah/6s packs will be too thick and will not fit. 6S2p will give me a bit longer run time, and the added weight at the nose should help keep the boat a more level ride attitude.Comment

It's doable as shown I just don't like working around rails on some boats."Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex... It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction."
