    An Observation About This Site

    All;

Over the past few months, I have noticed that there are a lot more personal attacks and other types of assorted garbage going on around here. (I have probably contributed to some at one time or another and if anyone took offence.. , although I do try and behave)

    Why?

People will always have differing opinions on things and thats fine. Perhaps growing the population of this site is not a good thing. Anyone who surfs other forums have seen how they have deteriorated quite a bit over time as the membership grows.

Some people have the means to experiment with top end set-ups, others try the economy route......whatever works, to each his own. It does not make one better than the other, just different.

People cut things up without ever trying the product first,,,,they make personal attacks on others characters etc........ ENOUGH ALREADY.

Lets get back to having fun with boats and blowing things up

Anyone wants to nag and complain knows where the appropriate forums are. (Or start their own as some have suggested).

Well said Doby I think most would love to be able to buy all hi end stuff, many cant. I for one go the semi economy route, or whatch the swapshop.
I am starting a 37 in mono build thread here and will be useing a kb45 8xl in her with a 200 amp mystery. Ya sure not the greatest and might even blow up??
But for now thats what I can afford...

This is a HOBBY and should be enjoyed!!!! If a person starts getting all wound about things being said well it might be time to take a break and step back a while.... Been there Done that.

If it aint fun do something else...

Now lets get back to make boats go as fast as we can afford.. and hopefully keep the jeanie in the bottle.......

Personel attacks or beefs need to be kept in private messages. It does not impress anyone, but the abuser. If I wanted drama, I would watch soaps. ha

We have a lot of different opinions and personalities here, so "let it go" if someone says something in conflict with your expressed ideas or experience. There is always more than one way to do it right. I like to hear and share everything and then decide what works for me.

HOWEVER... there are at least two sides to most things... and unfortunately, based on the beliefs many of you seem to have about some of us, i.e.: that we only promote high-end stuff... that we are rolling in $$$ and spend it feely... that we discourage lower-cost setups, etc... It's apparent that the TRUTH needs to be spoken from time to time to put these ideas back in place...

I've been labeled the devil by more than one person in the FE community, and frankly, I still don't understand it.... But, I'm not about to sit back and let someone publically try to discredit the hard work that many here have put forth to promote this hobby by bashing them and spreading false accusations that are baseless and unfounded...

You read my responses again in context and you'll see that my responses are carefully written so as NOT to be "personal attacks"... I counter-point, provide data and logic, and otherwise try to leave anything personal out of the conversation... It's simply not needed... I can get my point across without it and frankly, I'm perfectly happy to let you prove yourself wrong...

I'm all for private messages for this kind of stuff... but once something is posted publically, and it's misleading or not true, someone has to stand up for the good of FE... I guess I'm just not afraid to do that... especially when I have personal and intimate involvement in the topic at hand...

SO... I will continue to provide any useful information I can and will refrain from getting involved in squabbles, but I will also continue to defend the rights of ALL FE-ers to enjoy this hobby...

Criminy... there's PLENTY of levels of this hobby for EVERYONE to enjoy it equally.... Pick one or several, be happy, and don't look down on others for going a different route...

OH, and for the record... While I have some "high-end" setups, I have WAY more "spec" type setups, and in fact, have had my greatest success with some of the slowest boats in the hobby (N1-Mono)... Haven't spent a ton of money there... just paid attention to detail and drove with the intent to win...

How about trying this... Put your info out there without the side-comments, and let people judge for themselves about it... Why say something like "this motor will be a good alternative to all those high-dollar, high-end, high-brow setups"... when you can say something less offensive like "this motor could be a good OPTION." PERIOD...

That's what I try to do, anyhow... But then I tend to be a realist and more accepting/open/tolerant of all levels of this hobby...

For me, it's kind of like the rediculous bow hunting arguments that take place over "traditional" vs. "modern" vs. "fingers" vs. "releases"... Criminy... it's ALL Archery! Pick your poison and enjoy it!!

Hey Doby, if this thread has anything to do with the Proboat thread on RCU then i want to apologize. You are 100% right I should have never put a boat down that hasn't even been released. Just because I had some bad experiences with the company I should have kept my opinion to myself. In all honesty I hope the boat does very well and gets more guys into the hobby.

Well, actually there are at least three. Your side, the wrong side, and MY side!!

I've been labeled the devil by more than one person in the FE community, and frankly, I still don't understand it....
That's because you are The Great Satan!!

The Destroyer of the FE Hobby. You, and your main minion "Snowman" have almost single handed destroyed all that is good and wholesome in this hobby. As such, you would no doubt be blissfully unaware of the havoc you, and your minion, have wrought!!

I can see your fingerprints all over the newly formed scale hydro club up there. There's a good thing going with the new Thunderboat class, but that's not good enough for you PNW types. YOU have to propose NEW rules in the chase for more power!!

I guess it must be something in the water up there. Brian was a nice guy when he lived down here.

And I see no problem with personal attacks. Isn't that what the Internet was invented for? That, and *!***!***!***!**.

There, I said it. Baseless attack or not, I am right, you are wrong, and you dress funny too!!! SO there!!

I think the point was that not every thread about a lower end part needs the preaching of high end parts in it......We know a 40.00 motor aint gonna be a NEU and a 12.00 esc wont be a CC (maybe thats a good thing as of recent though)

as a newb here and been reading for a month or so and posting just a bit here and other places....and 95% of the threads someone jumps in and preaches high end. Frankly Id like to see those threads unmolested and just facts given, after all when CC started out they where laughed at as was hitec. I'll get down off of the soap box now
